A few years ago I was just like you. Probably worse.
I felt tired. All. The. Time. The kind of tired that rest didn’t fix.
When I would finally lay my exhausted body down for the night my eyes would pop open and my brain shifted into overdrive suddenly remembering all the things I couldn’t think of all day and I would lay there wishing I had an off button.
My energy was running out faster than a teenager’s cell phone battery.
I kept going to doctor after doctor, begging for them to help me figure out why I had no energy, couldn’t remember where I parked the car at the super store, and why I couldn’t stop eating. But all they would tell me is “your tests are fine, you just need to lose weight.”
Great! I’m in. Can you tell me how? (They couldn’t).
My exhaustion kept getting worse, I thought I was losing my mind, and that number on the scale kept climbing higher and higher.
On top of that my body was so sensitive that even the slightest bump felt like I’d been punched by a boxer. And with my wonky balance I was always bumping into doors and desks.
I was so drained that just taking a shower in the morning would wipe me out. I had to take a nap at lunch time just to get through my work day, and some days even emptying the dishwasher was more than I could do.
I was more irritable than a two year old who’s missed her nap.
I knew something had to change – and fast.
The Turning Point
The turning point came when I found an holistic health coach who not only helped me figure out why these things were happening but also taught me how to get my energy back, feel good again, and be my bright, bubbly self again.
You see, I had been so busy doing things for everyone else that I had put my own health on the back burner but now I couldn’t ignore it any longer. My body was demanding that I slow down and take care of myself and the more I fought it the more it pushed back.
It took some time and lots of effort (and we won’t even talk about the $$$$ I spent) but I finally learned that it was possible to get my energy back, clear my foggy head, and get my crazy cravings under control. I finally felt like I had a life again.
The lesson I learned was that I have to make keeping me well a priority so I can be available for the ones I love.
But it’s been worth it.
One night as I was cleaning up the kitchen after dinner my husband commented to a friend that I was dancing in the kitchen. He said “I haven’t seen her do that in years.” That was the night we decided that I had to become a health coach so I could help other women get their energy back again.
Now It’s Your Turn
My hope is to fast track that journey for you so that you don’t have to get to that level of exhaustion and spend years and thousands of dollars and years of misery trying to figure it out. You’ve probably already done your fair share of that.
I want to help you learn to make taking care of yourself the priority it should be without feeling selfish or guilty, to learn that healthy food can be delicious and satisfying and doesn’t require hours in the kitchen, and to give you simple techniques for building up your energy.
